Have students work in groups to answer the following questions. Compare answers and discuss the dangers of vague language.
1. The student government president was elected by an overwhelming majority, what percent of votes did she receive?
2. John is a heavy smoker, how many packs of cigarettes does he smoke each day?
3. Mrs. Meade gives too many exams in her course, how many exams does she give?
4. Pam is too young to get married, how old is Pam?
5. Mr. Jones is old, how old is he?
6. Debbie’s grade-point average is excellent, what’s her average?
7. Jim dropped out of school early, how many years did he complete?
8. For six feet tall, Kevin is very thin, how much does he weigh?
9. The Lopez family just bought a classy new sports car, what kind of car did he buys?
10. Brian just bought a classy new sports car, what kind of car did he buy?
11. Bobby makes a lot of money, how much does he make a year?
